Support in other ways
Other ways to raise money…
Help us sell NLT Handicrafts
NLT in Kathmandu make a range of high quality fair trade leather goods and some are available from our online shop. Income from sales of these goods goes towards supporting the work of NLT. If you think you could sell these for us at local fairs, or know of local shops who would be interested in stocking our products, please contact us to talk about it. You could even start your own business, buying from us at a wholesale rate and selling at a profit for yourself. Talk to Enid or Mike on 020 8940 1200 or email: info@nlt.org.uk
Set up a sponsored event
NLT is trying to establish an annual event that people can join in with to raise the profile of NLT and to build a “fun factor” into raising funds. The event to kick this off is the “Stride Against Stigma” that occurred in Richmond Park on 1st October 2011. This first event was a taster, and mainly supported by our Trustees, but we greatly hope that others who feel able to join in and raise some funds will be a part of future events. We have had two walks since then, and both have been very enjoyable, but there is still much work to do to raise interest in this as an annual event that can be effective at raising funds for NLT. The main challenge seems to be getting people to join in. The next walk will be sometime in 2014. Do please consider coming.
We are also very happy when supporters raise funds for NLT with their own events and several have occurred, including a 3 peaks challenge, a London Marathon run, a 10 day Penine Way walk, restaurant events, a barbershop concert, and a bird watching event. A member of the Order of St Lazarus, called Richard Bourke, is going to be taking part in The Great North Swim in the Lake District on Saturday 15th June 2013, to raise funds for NLT. His sponsorship page is on Just Giving at https://www.justgiving.com/Richard-Bourke1 . Do please support him.
Garage sales, Jumble sales, Coffee mornings, and many other possibilities spring to mind. Please do consider doing a sponsored event for NLT. We are registered with the Just Giving website, and the Give.net website (run by Stewardship) which makes setting up an event and donating to it much easier.
Ethic Trade
Ethic Trade sell a wide range of fair trade products from a number of charities and producers. If you enter their online shop through the link on our our website, and buy products from their shop, a percentage of their revenue is passed back to NLT as a donation. Enter the Ethic Trade shop through the button on the right of our Home page.
Everyclick.com
Another great way to earn money for NLT is through searching the web via the “Everyclick” search website and using it as your main search “engine”. Make Everyclick your “home page”, set Nepal Leprosy Trust as your charity, and make money for us every time you “click” to search for items on the internet.

Give as you live and Shop2Fundraise
“Give as you live” and “Shop2Fundraise” are two online shopping sites that have negotiated charitable giving from many big shops that can be accessed through these sites. This is a great way to raise money for NLT as you shop on the internet. You need to set NLT as the charity of your choice on each site ad then simply shop away. For more information, go to our page dedicated to these sites – click here.
The Phone Co-op
You can donate 6% of your total phone bill to NLT and… you’ll still save money (in order for us to receive the 6% you will need to quote ‘agent 233′) We have joined up with The Phone Co-op, an ethical and environmentally responsible telephone service provider, to offer our supporters a great deal on their phone calls. The Phone Co-op neutralises all CO2 emissions generated by your phone calls through its partnership with Climate Care www.climatecare.org. By using The Phone Co-op, you save money, help us to raise funds and use a green and ethical telecom provider.
The Phone Co-op (www.thephone.coop) is an ethical and environmentally responsible telephone service provider, run as a consumer co-operative along green and ethical lines. The Phone Co-op is committed to wider change through the development of the Co-operative movement. It trades as much as possible with other co-operatives and pays a percentage of profits each year to the Co-operative and Social Economy Fund, which was set up by the Phone Co-op to help fledgling co-ops with start-up costs. It has a number of packages which are competitive and offer similar services to other phone service providers.
The Wisdom Trust

You Can Help the Nepal Leprosy Trust Qualify For Bigger Donations.
NLT has recently registered as one of the charities and organisations supported by a new fundraising project from The Wisdom Trust
The Wisdom Trust is an educational charity which aims to create a wider awareness about poverty, the environment and world health, but which also sets aside half of all its income for donations to other charities and organisations.
As one of their supported organisations, NLT is guaranteed a donation of some sort from The Wisdom Trust each quarter, but the size of that donation will relate to our share of the special online vote amongst all The Wisdom Trust members, who can vote at least once every day for the two charities they’d most like to receive donations.
Quite simply, the more votes an organisation gets over each three month period, the bigger the donation they will receive. So an organisation with 10% of the vote will get 10% of The Wisdom Trust’s donation fund that quarter.
Friends, staff, and all other supporters of NLT can help us receive a bigger donation in a very simple way. Just by registering themselves, free-of-charge, as friends of The Wisdom Trust, they’ll be able to vote every day, or as often as they can, for NLT – and for one other organisation from the list of supported charities on The Wisdom Trust website. And hopefully, while they’re voting, they’ll be learning more about poverty, the environment and world health through The Wisdom Trust’s special on-screen education programs.
To get on board yourself and add your own votes for NLT, just click on the following link, then fill in the simple online registration form. You’ll only need a valid email address to do so and the whole process will take no more than a minute to complete. Then just log in every day and vote for NLT. You see we said it was simple!
