The Ultrasound Experience

New Ultrasound

In December 2010, LLSC became the proud possessor of an ultrasound machine delivered from Germany. Debbie Willis, an Ultrasound Consultant from the Teaching Hospital in Geneva, spent a month at LLSC teaching staff in the basic techniques of using the machine and reading the resulting scans.

The machine has been kept busy since then, being used for maternity cases as well as for scanning deep ulcers caused by leprosy. It greatly helps treatment management to know how far an ulcer tracks up the inside of a foot or leg or hand, and this machine provides that information.
